| Blog author: Alex Stojanovic A few months ago, The Raven Age announced that they had parted ways with vocalist Michael Burrough. Aside from their great melodic metal style, Burrough's vocals were what set them apart from most of the other modern metal bands. As many may know by now, the band features George Harris (son of Iron Maiden's Steve Harris) on guitar, and the band opened for Maiden on the entire 2016 leg of the Book Of Souls tour. According to the band, the split with Burrough was mutual, and it was mainly due to creative differences. In other news, the band have announced that they have a new vocalist, which is former Wild Lies frontman Matt James. According to George, Matt spoke to drummer Jai Patel and was interested in audition, and he won the audition all while feeling really sick, which is pretty impressive. The band have also offered their first taste of new music with Matt on vocals. You can watch the music video for the new track "Surrogate". Even though the band only have one album out, it was a little weird to hear The Raven Age with a new voice, but I have to say that Matt sounds pretty damn good. The band is currently working on their second album, tentatively due for release later this year, but in the meantime, they are currently supporting Savage Messiah on a U.K. tour, and will be playing some European festivals this summer. |
