Blog author: Alex Stojanovic Wow, some very unexpected news to wake up to. Onslaught have announced that they have parted ways with longtime vocalist Sy Keeler. Nobody saw this one coming. His departure was due to the nature of the modern day music scene, which really isn't surprising. For all the members, Onslaught is not their bread and butter, so they all have day jobs. From a fan perspective, Sy left behind some big shoes to fill. It's obviously going to be weird seeing Onslaught without him, but I'm sure that whoever steps in will do a great job. The band posted a statement regarding Sy's departure on their Facebook: |
We would like to wish Sy and his family all the very best on this new journey through life, and give him huge thanks for his immense vocal performances in the band over the years. We've shared so many great experiences, made some very cool records and played some really amazing shows across the globe, unfortunately nothing lasts forever, and for us as a band, what doesn't kill us will once again make us stronger. Let's hop that Sy will come and make a few surprise guest appearances now and again in the future.!"
Onslaught have been working on the follow-up to 2013's VI, which is scheduled to be released this year, however due to COVID-19, there's a chance that it could be delayed once again. It is unknown whether Sy already recorded vocals before his departure, but my guess is probably not. We wish Sy all the best in his future endeavours, and all the best to Onslaught in their search for a new vocalist and the new album.
