WACKEN METAL BATTLE CANADA

Heavy Metal Music Association of Canada began with Raymond "Black Metal" Wallace (who passed away on Nov 27, 2007). His business partner at that time, Ms. Jenny DuHaime, made a vow to Raymond that she would continue to develop the networking and company goals after his demise. With the help of numerous others, she immediately set to work on the next NXNE 2008 show at the Funhaus in Toronto, ON. This organization continues to date as a non-profit company out of Montreal, QC.
One of the HMMAC admins is a mutual metal partner to many, including myself, and he is the powerhouse known as Jon Asher who heads Asher Media Relations. This is where I first became aware of J.J. Tartaglia and the Wacken Metal Battle Canada contest that became a reality in 2013. Metal Master Kingdom was invited to participate as a media sponsor, and to cover the Toronto portion of the battle. At that time the contest was open to bands in Toronto and Montreal only. The winners of the WMBC 2013, Crimson Shadows, were crowned on June 22nd, 2013 at the Toronto final and went on to Germany to win the overall WMB title there. For more on our coverage of the 2013 WMBC shows, click here. In 2014 the contest has expanded and is now open to 5 cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Montreal.
