 | Blog author: Alex Stojanovic For the last few weeks, we've been hearing about a co-headlining summer tour between Megadeth and Lamb Of God that was rumoured to be under the return of Mayhem Fest, but that didn't turn out to be the case. Instead, it's a stand-alone tour. The dates have been announced, and it's a flippin' doozy! With Megadeth and Lamb Of God co-headlining, and special guests Trivium and In Flames, it undoubtedly deserves its name as "The Metal Tour Of The Year". The trek will visit 55 cities across North America from June 12th in Bristow, Virginia, all the way to November 13th in Reno, Nevada. Tickets and VIP packages go on sale to the public this Friday, February 14th, which also happens to be Valentine's Day, so what's a more perfect gift for that special metalhead in your life. You can see the full list of dates down below. Megadeth recently returned to the road in Europe as support for Five Finger Death Punch. These are the first dates the band has done since Dave Mustaine's throat cancer diagnosis, which he recently revealed he is 100% free of, which is great news. The support slot serves as a warm-up before they get back into the headlining waters for the summer. They are also slated to release their much-anticipated new album, and the follow-up to Dystopia this year as well. Look out for more details on that. |
Lamb Of God will be releasing their self-titled new album on May 8th, which will be the first album to feature Art Cruz on drums, who replaced Chris Adler last year. The new song "Checkmate" is available for streaming now.
Trivium are rumoured to be working on a new album slated for release this year, because it's been three years since they released The Sin & The Sentence, but what happens in the studio, stays in the studio with them.
In Flames are currently touring in support of their latest album I, The Mask. What's also interesting is that for the last year, they've had Chris Broderick filling in for Niclas Engelin. I have a feeling that Chris is going to be on this tour again, but I could be wrong. Of course, Chris also used to be in Megadeth, so I wonder how it's going to feel for Chris opening for a band he used to be in.
Regardless, this lineup is monstrous. There's no way that you will want to miss this lineup because there's a damn good chance that it won't happen again. Get your tickets and see this once-in-a-lifetime tour.
