Blog author: Alex Stojanovic Earlier in 2017, we were all excited when we heard the news that Dirge Within reformed. The reformation resulted in a couple of live performances, but ever since their last live appearance, things were pretty quiet. After some posts of some cryptic messages on their Facebook page, which got people wondering if the band ended for a second time, the reality is that the band has indeed split for the second time. The band's initial split took place in 2013 when the band welcomed Travis Neal into the band. The band then changed the name to The Bloodline, which resulted in one studio album, which was a great one. The band then did a few live dates, but then the Dirge Within revival happened in 2017. The band only did about two or three live appearances, and has now come to another end. In a post on the band's Facebook page, guitarist Shaun Glass commented on the split and revealed that he already has a new band together, but didn't reveal any further details. |
First and foremost, as many of you have rightly suspected, Dirge Within has sadly come to an end. Being the creator and sole founding member of the band, I tried to resurrect and recreate something that once was. It takes more than one man to be a band, and when I recognized that, it was over. Experience has taught me that when you try to recapture the past, it's never the same.
It was time to repent
Together with a group of new people, I have formed a new band, and it's definitely very METAL. It's all still in the very early stages, but the writing and creation of NEW music has been taking place in Chicago. We're not ready for a full reveal just yet, but we will reveal the lineup and details in due time, when there is music ready to share.
It is an exciting time, and while I know that some will be disappointed to hear that the Dirge Within revival is no more, I want all of you to know that I appreciate each and every one of you. For all who have followed my journey through many musical projects, and to those who have joined me as a part of my past bands...
REPENTANCE is upon you!
Shaun Glass
Obviously we're all disappointed in the split, but we're all looking forward to hearing the music in Shaun's new band. I have a feeling that the new band will be called Repentance. Stay tuned for more updates regarding the new band.
