Children Of Bodom have just announced the departures of not one, not two, but THREE of the remaining original members, which are drummer Jaska Raatikainen, bassist Henkka Seppala and keyboardist Janne Wirman. This will leave Alexi Laiho as the only original member left in the band. When you have more than two members leave a band, especially simultaneously, that usually almost makes you want to give up. It has been said that Alexi and guitarist Daniel Freyburg will announce plans to create new music in the future. Does that mean that they will be performing under a new name, or announce new members? We will just have to wait and see. |
In the meantime, your last chance to see this current lineup will be at their upcoming Finnish dates to round out the year. The last show with this lineup will be at the Black Box in Helsinki on December 15th, which will be dubbed A Chapter Called Children Of Bodom. The band have posted the following statement on their Facebook page:
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce that 2019 will be the last for Children Of Bodom with this lineup. After almost 25 years with Bodom, thousands of shows & 10 albums, it is time for Henkka, Janne and Jaska to step back and change direction within their lives. All three will miss the fans and supporters in every city in every country the band ever played.
The last show of this lineup will be on the 15th of December at Helsinki Ice Hall. Tickets still remain for some of the Finnish shows in December. Alexi and Daniel will have further announcements about their plans to keep creating new music in the future.
