Blog author: Alex Stojanovic Black Star Riders have announced that they will be parting ways with founding guitarist Damon Johnson at the end of the year after they complete their upcoming U.K. tour dates. Damon has stated that the reasoning for his departure was to concentrate on his solo career and session work. However, he stated that he will continue to work with frontman Ricky Warwick when they do Warwick Johnson shows, as well as any future Thin Lizzy commitments. Damon comments on his departure: "3 excellent albums in 6 years with this great band is one of the proudest achievements of my career, and it has been glorious. My family and I have decided to focus our efforts into growing my solo career and I'm excited to be home more to take advantage of working and writing in Nashville. Though I'm moving on from BSR, I will continue to work with Ricky in "Warwick Johnson", and plan on being a part of any Thin Lizzy commitments in the future. Much love and continued success to the entire band and to the incredible Black Star Riders fans worldwide." Taking Damon's place in the band will be none other than Christian Martucci from Stone Sour, who will officially replace Damon on January 1, 2019. |
