Blog author: Alex Stojanovic Well this is certainly not the type of news you want to wake up to. It has unfortunately been confirmed that AC/DC's one and only Malcolm Young passed away today. He was only 64. It's no secret what Malcolm went through in the past few years with having to leave AC/DC due to being diagnosed with dementia and was admitted to a nursing home. He was also successfully treated for lung cancer after the Black Ice tour. This is without a doubt one of the biggest losses, not only of 2017, but to the music world in general. Angus posted the following statement regarding his passing: |
Malcolm, along with Angus, was the founder and creator of AC/DC.
With enormous dedication and commitment he was the driving force behind the band.
As a guitarist, songwriter and visionary he was a perfectionist and a unique man.
He always stuck to his guns and did and said exactly what he wanted.
He took great pride in all that he endeavored.
His loyalty to the fans was unsurpassed.
As his brother it is hard to express in words what he has meant to me during my life, the bond we had was unique and very special.
He leaves behind an enormous legacy that will live on forever.
Malcolm, job well done.
We all send our deepest condolences to Malcolm's family, friends and fans worldwide. Thank you Malcolm for all the great timeless music you've given us. We salute you. R.I.P.
