HAMMERFALL Photo credit: Alex Stojanovic / (C) 2019 www.metalmasterkingdom.com At last, it was time for Sabaton to enter the musical battlefield. Starting off the show with the instrumental version of "In Flanders Fields", things were kicked into high gear with the signature opener "Ghost Division". This is the band's first headline tour of North America where they managed to bring the tank. For anyone that has seen the band live before, particularly in Europe or at festivals, knows that their drum riser is a war tank with mini guns coming out the side. Sabaton delivered a full 1.5 hour headline set that was jam packed with signature tunes, new tunes and some deep cuts like "Resist & Bite", "Attack Of The Dead Men", "82nd All The Way", "The Price Of A Mile", "The Lion From The North", "Carolus Rex", "The Last Stand", "Night Witches", "Primo Victoria", "Swedish Pagans" and "To Hell & Back". As expected, not only did Sabaton bring the great music, but they also brought the laughs. It was right before "Swedish Pagans" that Tommy Johansson got the crowd to sing the opening melody, taking the attention away from Joakim Broden, whose reply to Tommy was "you fucking asshole." | HammerFall kicked off the party with a fierce dose of Swedish power metal. They brought the metal that had a slightly harder edge with heavy crunching riffs. With the little space they had on stage, they made good use of it, and delivered a show that gave off headliner vibes. Promoting their new album Dominion, they played three songs off the album, like "Never Forgive, Never Forget", "We Make (Sweden Rock)" and "One Against The World". They also included old songs like "Hammer High", "Hector's Hymn", Any Means Necessary", "Blood Bound", "Let The Hammer Fall" and "Hearts On Fire". The band has already announced a North American headline tour for next fall. We look forward to their return. The Sabaton fans' level of dedication is on another level, because they know the words to literally every single song that they play, whether it's a single or a deep cut. Even the band members themselves are always gobsmacked by the fans' high enthusiasm. |
