Blog author: Alex Stojanovic What the hell? Now Chris Broderick has announced that he has left Megadeth, following the shocking announcement yesterday of Shawn Drover quitting. This was definitely my favourite lineup of Megadeth, so it's tough to see it fall apart. Chris recorded three albums with Megadeth: Endgame (2009), Thirteen (2011) and Super Collider (2013). Chris has released the following statement: "Due to artistic and musical differences, it is with great reluctance that I announce my departure from Megadeth to pursue my own musical direction. |
I want all of you to know how much I appreciate the amount that you the fans have accepted and respected me as a member of Megadeth for the last seven years, but it is time for me to move on. I wish Dave (Mustaine) and everyone in Megadeth all the best. I am working on a few things of my own and hope that when they come out, you will all dig it."
2014 definitely seemed like a tough year for Megadeth as they haven't toured extensively like they used to, and they've experienced quite a number of setbacks, including the tragic passing of David Ellefson's brother in May, then a concert cancellation in Israel due to the Israel-Gaza conflict, then the cancellation of their appearance on Motorhead's Motorboat Cruise due to Dave Mustaine suffering complications from his spinal surgery, and if that's not enough, Mustaine's mother-in-law, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, went missing, and she's still missing as of today. Not a good year for Megadeth.
We at Metal Master Kingdom would like to wish both Chris and Shawn all the best in their future musical endeavours, and hope that Dave's mother-in-law is alright and will be found soon and brought home safe and sound. Megadeth are currently in the writing process for their fifteenth studio album, and plan to hit the studio early next year to record the album for a mid to late 2015 release. Stay tuned for updates.
