Blog author: Alex Stojanovic Wow, I did not see this coming. Shawn Drover has announced that he has left Megadeth. It's definitely sad for me as a fan to see him go, but like anyone, I have to respect his decision. Besides Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson, Shawn was the longest lasting member in Megadeth's history, being the drummer for 10 years, and having recorded 4 great albums with them: United Abominations (2007), Endgame (2009), Thirteen (2011) and Super Collider (2013). I've had the pleasure of meeting all of Megadeth, and Shawn was the last one at an in-store signing at Steve's Music in Toronto. Great dude! |
Shawn has released the following statement: "After 10 years, I have decided to quit Megadeth to pursue my own musical interests. I want to thank Dave Mustaine and the entire Megadeth family, as well as thanking all the amazing Megadeth fans around the world!!! I truly appreciate all of you. Stay tuned for info on my next musical journey."
Recently, Shawn has been teasing some of the new projects he has been working on, including an up and coming Canadian thrash band called Untimely Demise. Check out his Facebook for details. Megadeth have yet to release an official statement regarding the matter, but that should be coming shortly. We would like to wish Shawn all the very best in his future musical endeavours, and thank you Shawn for all the great great music with Megadeth over the last 10 years.
