| By Karina Diane Parker Recently wrapping up their first headlining tour in North and South America, Russian Pagan Metal band Arkona, announced the departure of their long time band member, drummer Vlad "Artist" Sokolov. The announcement came via Facebook on January 23, 2014 stating that Sokolov will be leaving the band for personal issues. Not leaving their fans shocked and hanging for long, earlier today Arkona made an announcement that they have welcomed one of the best and well known Russian metal drummers Andrey Ischenko (Catharsis, Ashen Lights, Paul Di'Anno, Blaze Bayley, Hieronymus Bosch, and others) as the new drummer for the band. Ischenko has been working with the band since the summer of 2013 while collaborating on Arkona’s upcoming album Yav. This lineup change is the first for Arkona in 10 years. We look forward to hearing how this change will impact the band and to see what Ischenko will bring to the table. www.arkona-russia.com/en/enews/ www.facebook.com/arkonarussia |
