Non Point Motionless in White Sangre Two virtual unknowns definitely worth listing to from Saturday’s lineup were by far Sangre and Red Sun Rising. Two complete ends of the spectrum in regards to music, but worth checking out. Motionless in White took command of the stage and delivered the goods with an amazing set, and of course our hometown (Ft Lauderdale) boys Nonpoint KILLED it. Suicidal Tendencies took us through a trip down memory lane. Brings me back to my first show ever as a kid, with Suicidal Tendencies, Summers on the Beach, Lights Camera Revolution tour. What a way to be introduced to Metal! And what else can I say, Slayer was just amazing through it all, regardless of the loss of Hanneman, and the departure of Dave Lombardo with a sea of controversy. This was Melaine’s first time seeing Slayer. I had to refrain from spilling the beans on what was about to go down. They still have the power and force to be regarded as the one of the greatest in METAL MUSIC!!! Red Sun Rising We are Harlot Hats off to the people who made Welcome to Rockville happen again this year. Last year they said it was going to be hard to top what they did in 2014, but from initial reports and fan interaction, we can most certainly tell the promotion team: Well done!!! Mission ACCOMPLISHED! Godsmack Slash with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators | Monster Energy’s Welcome to Rockville 2015 fest was again one for the record books. Between the performances, the weather, and of course “the fans”, it most certainly did not disappoint. On Saturday the onslaught began in classic fashion with Jacksonville natives World Gone, followed by earsplitting Metal music from some of the best in the industry, and topped with a stellar performance by the almighty Korn. World Gone This event was outdone by the forces of nature, In the middle of Saturday’s performances the Heavens opened up, and the torrential rain began its descent. There was thunder, lightning and not to be outdone, Tornado warnings. As a matter of fact the event had to be evacuated twice. With all this being said, the Metal hordes persisted, and toughed it out through the rain, and madness. Some bands were bumped, but it most certainly did not stop the night. It was wet, it was muddy, and it WAS METAL. We were able to catch Nonpoint, Motionless in White, Slayer, Sangre, Suicidal Tendencies, World Gone and Red Sun Rising. Slayer Suicidal Tendencies Day two began a little later for us, as we had to dry our sneakers out from the day before. However, we were able to catch We Are Harlot, In This Moment, Slipknot, Motionless in White, Slash, Godsmack, Butcher Babies, and Islander. If I had to choose for sure two groups that always throw a great show and this by far was no exception I would have to give it to In this Moment and The Butcher Babies. The Butcher Babies have this undying energy and In This Moment just puts on such a great theatrical show that never disappoints. Slash with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators were just old school rock and roll, very entertaining to watch and a good time. And let’s see who else was playing on Sunday? Did someone say Godsmack and Slipknot? This day could not get any better. As the smoke settled and the dust cleared at the end of the day Godsmack and Slipknot brought us home with amazing performances. In This Moment Butcher Babies Say what you want to about Metal music, our fans and the bands, but there isn’t a better group of people that we prefer to be around. Dedicated, to the point, and some of the most loyal diehard fans you’ll ever meet! And I am most definitely proud to say: I AM A METAL HEAD!!!! Slipknot |
