​Another festival on the books, and more memories from it.  Monster Energy’s 2019 Welcome To Rockville produced by Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) hit Jacksonville, Florida with great anticipation, and excitement.  This year featured Tool, Korn, Rob Zombie, Shinedown, Judas Priest, Incubus, Bring Me The Horizon, Papa Roach, Evanescence, Chevelle, The Cult, Flogging Molly, and Meshuggah.  Of course, the festival gave us some veteran bands that always rock on the smaller stages like Beartooth, Architects, The Interrupters, Black Label Society, Wage War, and While She Sleeps.

Holding the title of the largest rock music festival in North America, Welcome To Rockville once again has amassed one of the biggest and baddest lineups to date.  Last year, another day was added, making it a Friday-through-Sunday event, and over 90,000 ravenous metal fans came from parts far and wide to witness the spectacle.

This year was no exception with headliners such as Tool, Korn, Rob Zombie, Judas Priest, Evanescence, Chevelle, Incubus, Shinedown and Bring Me The Horizon.  Once again, festival promoters and organizers deserve all the credit for not only the line ups and event setting, but for their ability to overcome obstacles as this years Rockville was no easy task.

Jacksonville, Florida's biggest annual rock and metal party, known as Welcome To Rockville, is just around the corner, taking place on May 3rd, 4th and 5th at Metropolitan Park.

This year will see the festival hosting its ninth annual edition, and it will see headlining sets from Korn, Evanescence, Rob Zombie, Tool, Judas Priest and Incubus, along with performances from Shinedown, The Cult, Chevelle, Killswitch Engage, Black Label Society, In This Moment, Papa Roach, Meshuggah, Tremonti, Zeal & Ardor, Architects, and Tom Morello, among many others.

In the latest news regarding Welcome To Rockville, the festival has announced an on-site collaboration with Metallica's Blackened Whiskey and Enter Night Pilsner.  The two alcoholic beverage brands will join forces at the festival, and will feature a Blackened & Enter Night Boilermaker, as well as craft cocktails and Enter Night Pilsner.

Regarding the ticket situation, there are still a number of general admission and VIP tickets and camping passes still available for sale here.  Weekend VIP tickets, Sunday VIP tickets and hotel packages are now sold out.

The festival will kick off with the Welcome To Rockville Official Pre-Party, taking place on May 2nd at the 1904 Music Hall in Jacksonville, and will feature Amigo The Devil, Secret Social Club and a special guest TBA.  The doors are at 7:00, and the first 100 Welcome To Rockville single-day ticket or weekend wristband holders will get free admission to the show.

Jacksonville, Florida's biggest rock and metal party of the year, better known as Welcome To Rockville is back for its ninth edition this year, which will take place on the weekend of May 3rd to the 5th.  Just like the past editions, this year's festival is offering another eclectic lineup of bands spreading all across the rock and metal spectrum, with something for everyone.  The festival will be held at its usual location: Metropolitan Park.  Ticket information and purchasing is available here.

​It happens that 2017 marks the fourth year Metal Master Kingdom has covered Welcome to Rockville in its entirety, and I really must say that these four years have brought many surprises as well as a great deal of many new bands to the attention of Metal Master Kingdom, and our readers. The location sits across the street to Ever Bank field in Jacksonville and overlooks the bay. Two years ago they decided to move the Media tent to an overlook pavilion which in my opinion is one of the best views in all of Jacksonville. Through this time we have found great new artists, interviewed up and coming groups, and formed great friendships. With that being said the location makes the venue, the bands bring the people, and the fans make the show. Don't ever put yourself into the frame of mind that the band is the most important part of the show. YOU ARE THE SHOW! The bands feed off the energy created and give it right back to you.

So how does this fit into the narrative? Like this: 2 days - 40 bands - 3 stages, including legends, veterans and greenhorns. This is what separates the men from the boys or the ladies from the girls, if you wish. I always try to approach this event with the same frame of mind and enthusiasm. I have a few favourites I definitely wanted to see, a few legends that I have to see and, there's always a few others I have never heard of that I check out so that I could find some new music.

​What did Rockville have in store for us this year? Fasten your seat belts, and let me take you on a trip. First surprise of the day came from Amsterdam's own The Charm The Fury. The female fronted five piece band put on a powerful show to kick off the event at the River Stage. Energy and excitement describes the recent Nuclear Blast freshman on one of their three festival dates before they embark on their tour in the Netherlands. We also had the unique pleasure of interviewing them as well, so make sure to check out the video interview.
