The EP starts off slow, with the eerie intro, before heading into heavy territory with "Thy Bloody Kingdom, Thy Bloody Deeds". I love the main triplet-based groove. The song later transitions into a lengthy melodic middle section with soulful soloing between guitarists Guy Laverick and Jason Macdonald, and when Lundi Reed comes in with the somber vocals, the song reminds me a bit of Iced Earth's "Angels Holocaust". The song then closes out by returning to the main groove for one last dose of heaviness. The track clocks in at just under 9 minutes, but it's one of the EP's highlights, for sure.
Lundi Reed goes to different places with his vocals, instead of sticking to one style, and that keeps things from getting stale, and it shows that you as a vocalist, aren't just a one-trick pony. That's a preference of mine as a listener. In my other Sin Theta review, I mentioned how I can hear the vocal style of Joe Duplantier of Gojira coming through Lundi's vocals, especially during the scream at the opening and the verses of the EP's closing track "Nefarious". This track is another roller coaster, because it goes through several different grooves at different tempos, and it clocks in at 7.5 minutes. I highly recommend the Sin Theta EP for those who love traditional metal and thrash. Thanks Marc for sending it to me!
