My friend Marc Jackson, a British drummer who has played with and continues to play with many bands, recently sent me an exclusive demo of one of the new songs his current band Sin Theta are working on for their new EP. The track is called "No Allegiance", and the demo quality is so good, it sounds like it could be good enough to be the final mix for a full-length album or EP and wouldn't need to go through the mixing and mastering process. We'll see if this ends up being the final mix for the track. On my first listen of the track, I knew I had to write a review of the track to let people know what they can expect and why Sin Theta is seriously worth checking out.
The opening clean notes immediately reminded me of the opening to "Sleepwalker" by Megadeth, but then giant power chords build up anticipation for what's to come. We then head into a ripping thrash assault with Exodus-style riffs, courtesy of guitarists Guy Laverick and Jason Macdonald, that lasts until about the middle of the song, where we are then treated to a very tasty harmonized lead section, which leads into a fantastic melodic solo. I love Lundi Reez's vocals. They compliment the riffs really well, and he incorporates a couple of different styles found in thrash. I personally really like his gang-style vocals, because to me, they kind of sound like Joe Duplantier of Gojira if he was singing for a thrash band. The song then closes out with a more chaotic shredding solo.
Look for info on the upcoming Sin Theta EP by following them on their Facebook (link below). I'm certainly looking forward to hearing what the guys have coming. To any and all of the publicists that we currently work with, or any new publicists that happen to see this review, please consider checking out Sin Theta and seeing if you would like to work with them and help give them a leg up.
