 | Metal For Mayor is a Toronto community organization dedicated to the promotion of underground music and the arts through live concerts and events. Metal For Mayor was initially inspired by the appearances and endorsements of Toronto mayoral candidates at The National Wacken Metal Battle Finals and the Canadian Cancer Society endorsed fundraiser Headbanging For A Cure in 2014. |
“The Arts” and their importance are mentioned on some candidate platforms, but Metal For Mayor seeks to have candidates declare their support in a way that goes beyond grants for Hollywood films. Those who work hard deserve to enjoy their choice of entertainment as a reasonable price. Metal For Mayor encourages more funding towards free public concerts for all ages. We are also going as far as offering candidates a free heavy metal concert in support of their campaign, to help show their support for the arts at a subcultural level.
Underground music is alive and well in Toronto. Whether it be heavy metal, rock, hip-hop, or dance, live music is the lifeblood of the people who fuel our great city. Metal For Mayor believes that in the coming municipal election, having a good time is the most important issue.
