“Downfall is an impressive effort…Their musicianship is first class…” – Hellbound
The band explains the significance of their name:
“The name is a reference to the first choir, which represents the first set of angels that fell to Satan. Fallen Legion is a derivative that we felt accommodated us better as a band. The name was generalized to include our fanbase. A Legion of growing fans.”
About:
John Milton wrote in Paradise Lost; “Let none admire/That Riches Grow in Hell; that soil may best deserve the precious bane…No light but rather only darkness visible/Served only to discover sights of woe.” Oshawa, ON’s FALLEN LEGION have the potential to live up to Milton’s words and grow their own musical riches in the fertile soil of their own talent.
Since their formation in 2008, FALLEN LEGION have played with bands like Soilwork, Havok, Unearth, Battlecross and 36 Crazy Fists.
FALLEN LEGION have released two well-received demo EPs “Screams From The Dungeon” (2012), “Infinite Archive” (2015) and will be releasing an official EP entitled “Downfall” on May 18th, 2018.
Consisting of Nick Sauter on guitars, Jon Kal on bass, Josh Masterson on vocals and Dylan Waybrant on drums, FALLEN LEGION is inspired by an eclectic metal brigade of Gojira, Korn, Iron Maiden, Dethlok and Antonio Vivaldi for a sound best described as “energetic, unorthodox, progressive, spirited, and memorable”.
Their forthcoming EP is “the journey of a downfall. Going from stable to unbound and the choices that come with the calamity. The single embraces the human struggle and highlights the importance of hope. The EP is about dealing with stress- mortal blows, drugs, thoughts of suicide, the inner struggle, and the wrath of it all. The EP represents the outcome of painful experiences. Songs like ‘Escapegoat’ deal with not being able to handle the consequences of one’s actions and pushing them onto those weaker than yourself.”, and ‘Monster Reborn’-about letting the guilt build up inside, trapping one within their own mental anguish.”
“Downfall” is available now and as of May 18th, 2018 for download on all major online retailers along with pre-order on Bandcamp.
