Lamb of God - Autograph session - Jan 27. 2012 - HMV - 274 Queen St W. TO, ON, Canada
I knew that I would be buying the new cd for Lamb of God, and I am so glad I waited.until Jan 27th, 2012. With this purchase I made at HMV, I was able to get my guaranteed spot with the laminate they provided for the autograph session scheduled at 3 pm the same day!
We got there before noon, and much to my delight, we were the first ones there! After a short reprieve for coffee and sustenance, we returned to find a small group of METAL heads had begun the long wait at the front of the store.
I loved the look of surprise on their faces when they learned that my hubby and myself were there for the LoG signing. We do not look like your typical heads, and this can confuse some, but when one starts conversating with me, all disillusion disappears. This has become a bit of a game on my part and one I love to participate in, hehehehe.
As the day progressed, and the line slowly started to grow, we were huddling over a lighter fire to try to stay warm. We took pleasure at waving at the many who stared and looked puzzled at why we were all there until they read the poster in the window, and they the look of bewilderment as to who Lamb of God are.
The security guards hired for this event were cool dudes, and I actually befriended one; his name is Dave. Remember to play nice with the guards, and they will play nice with you.
We occupied our time with numerous conversations covering everything METAL, including shows, bands, whom we have met from bands, etc. You get the drift. For me it was like hanging out on one of my pages, but this was live, in person so it was that much more satisfying.
When we saw the black limo van approach, we all knew that the band members from Lamb of God were on board, and this fact was confirmed as the white beard of John was clearly evident. This sent a whoop through the entire line up, (went up the street, around the corner).
I was honoured with being the first in line!! We were escorted in to the store shortly after the bands arrival, and I have to say my heart was pounding so hard that I thought it was coming out of my chest! We started chanting, LAMB OF GOD, repeatedly which prompted numerous photos being taken of us from the balcony where the band was waitiing. There were shouts of “Randy for President” even! We were pumped and ready to meet the dudes from Virginia! I was given the go ahead to go up, and I swear I felt like I was swooning. I put my cd down where Randy was the first to sign it and then as it progressed down the table for the others to sign, I seized the opportunity to have a couple of the members to sign my arms; Mark on the right one, and Chris on the left one. You see, we were advised by security and the bands rep that only one item was to be signed and no pics! Shit, no pics! Oh well, some of us did, and those will be shared when I recieve them. The wait was over 4 hours long, but the signing was no longer than a minute. The wait was so worth it and I would do it all again! I made new friends, and I will say this over and over again, the METAL community is a family!
After a few pics with the heads and our signed copies of “RESOLUTION”, it was off to the New World Tattoo and Piercing shop on Yonge Street to get my arms tattooed! This has been one of the best METAL days of my life and will be forever etched in my memory!
Be sure to check out the pics from the day on our photo album page.
