George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher - Vocals Adam Dutkiewicz - Guitars, bass & backing vocals Shannon Lucas - Drums
Following the intro, "The Vengeance In Me" explodes like a bomb blowing a door off the hinges with blast-beats and crushing riffs. It sets the table perfectly for what's about to come with the rest of the record. We have yet to hear Corpsegrinder experiment with clean vocals. It would be interesting to hear at some point. However the clean vocals on the album are provided by Dutkiewicz, which can be heard on tracks like "Vanquished Unto Thee", "Sovereign Hate" and "Jagged Cross Lenses". He also brings the screams out on "This Endless War" and soothes the listener with acoustic guitar on "Prelude". The entire record features the heaviest riffs Dutkiewicz has ever written. As expected, Lucas is a machine on the drums and what else can be said about Corpsegrinder? He still is and always will be the best voice in death metal.
The album's only flaw is that some songs seem to mirror each other and it gets difficult to distinguish those songs one from the other. However, the album is one of the year's most essential releases and will appeal to all extreme metal fans. Whether there will be shows and more records from Serpentine Dominion in the future remains to be seen, given each musician's schedule, especially Dutkiewicz and Corpsegrinder with their respective bands. In the meantime, be sure to pick up this album!
Highs: After five years of waiting, Corpsegrinder, Dutkiewicz and Lucas unleash a beast of an album. Worth the wait.
Lows: Some songs sound similar to each other, making it difficult to tell them apart.
Final Rating: 8/10
