When my brother handed me a copy of Ready The Prince’s EP Note To Self and asked me to review it, I thought to myself “Oh here we go”. I fiqured it was an EP with crappy production, vocals you can’t understand, and mediocre musicians playing basic riffs. However, man was I wrong! The EP only has three songs but it left me wanting more. The first song "Dead Roads" does start off with a basic riff from guitarist Daniel Prada, but then picks up throughout the song with great drum fills from drummer Jordan Ross and very impressive vocals from lead vocalist and bassist Stephen De Ciantis. Most impressive though was the production of the entire EP. I thought I wouldn’t be able to understand anything but I heard every note quite clearly. It’s a great start for an EP.
The Second song "Cliff Diver" starts off with a chance for Jordan Ross to shine on the drums. To add on to it, a very catchy chorus and some great guitar effects from Daniel Prada. It was by far the song that stands out the most. Last and certainly not least, you have the title track "Note To Self". The EP ends off on a heavy note (pun intended). I was hoping this wouldn’t be the last song but oh well. It is great way to end the EP and makes me look forward to their next release. Overall, a great start for a new band. If you want to support them and like great rock music, then look them up on their website or check them out on Facebook.
