The EP starts off with the band's cover of Iron Maiden's "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner", which I got to hear the band play live earlier this year at the Dirkschneider show at the Mod Club. Anybody reading this that was at that show will remember that. They do an impeccable job and it's crazy how good of a job Patrick Mulock does vocally. He does a pretty damn good Bruce Dickinson. There's no doubting that Maiden themselves would give their approval of this cover. We now arrive at the EP's new original track titled "Dirty Work". The main riff sort of reminds me of something Slayer would write, and that's not a bad thing. It will have no problem getting heads banging. Vocally, it combines harmonies, awesome high notes, nice cleans and a moment of some pretty heavy gutterals from Graham Stirrett. As I mentioned above, the EP also includes live recordings of three tracks from Insanitarium, which are "Don't Scream", "Heaven" and "Regan's Scream", which all sound great. If you are looking for some great classic sounding metal with fantastic vocals, amazing guitar work, give Phear a listen by checking out both Insanitarium and The Curse Lives On, both available now and catch them live when you get the chance. I guarantee you'll love it all.
