| Written by Amina Abdelwahab Mike Milan Dedic, a solo artist from Toronto, emphasizes the techniques behind melodic metal in his newest track "Escape". His impeccable guitar skills and solid integration of bass, drums and even keyboards in the track speak to his songwriting skills – he reins it back when needed, and knows when to gear things up. However, being a vocalist myself, I found it difficult to fully enjoy the track without the drive of a frontman and some lyrics to help the music speak with a voice as well as with a melody. The Toronto based musician released a self-titled album in 2014, and has been creating instrumental music with the goal of making the “guitar take on the role of the singer” since then. He’s been playing the guitar since the age of twelve, and continues to pursue this passion through songwriting as evidently seen in his latest track “Escape”. We hope to witness a full album from Mike sometime in the near future – horns up till then! |  |
