For the latest record, they decided to put it back in the hands of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan’s own Kevin Churko, who also produced their last effort: 2014’s Blood For Blood. The first thing that you notice when listening is that there are more solos on this album from guitarists Christian Brady and Tom Maxwell than in any previous records. Vocalist Chad Gray’s vocals are also at their best. Songs such as “Human”, “X”, and “Be Unden!able” are prime examples of this.
The albums strongest tracks are without a doubt “Blood Plague” and “Startariot” with the former being my favourite song on the album. The heavy-hitting bass, ear-piercing vocals, and amazing dual solos from Brady and Maxwell will make you bounce off the walls and break the first thing you see. One of the more unexpected tracks on the album is a cover of the Phil Collins song “I Don’t Care Anymore”. It is quite an eerie track that will give you chills, as it contains a couple of previous Dimebag Darrell samples from when Damageplan was recording the song.
The only slight issue I have with the album is the track “Love Falls”. Considering the pacing of the album, this song does not fit. It goes in two different directions, which makes it hard to get into. It is really the only song that I wouldn’t have minded if it was left off the album. However the album gets stronger afterward ending with “Startariot” and “Grave”, leaving you headbanging the same way you were at the beginning of the album.
For any metalhead looking for good solid piece of heavy metal, pick this record up. This album is one of their best yet.
