In the time between then and now, since the band isn't able to tour, they got to work on what will be their tenth studio album. However, as a nice holdover until it arrives, the band surprise-released a brand new 4-song acoustic EP titled Under Pressure, which contains a cover of the Queen + David Bowie song of the same name, a brand new song called "Faded Remains", and two new versions of "Revelation Song" from Humanicide, as well as the classic "A Room With A View". The recordings were done by Rob Cavestany and Mark Osegueda. The blending of their two voices has always been a strong vocal mixture in Death Angel songs. "A Room With A View" didn't feel all that different to the original. The only difference is that there was no drums. Other than that little change, it stayed pretty true.
I will say that it did feel a little weird to hear "Revelation Song" as a pure acoustic track. I guess it's because I've gotten so used to hearing the original electric version, so it may take me a few more listens to get it to start hooking me, but we'll see. The new track "Faded Remains" carries a bit of a Latino vibe with the acoustic melodies and solos. It would be interesting to hear how this song would with drums. All in all, Under Pressure is a nice little holdover for fans to enjoy until the next album comes out, even though it's purely acoustic. Of course, there will be people who preferred that the band released an EP of electric songs, but then that would kind of make the anticipation for the next album disappear a bit.
