NECK OF THE WOODS

Some may place the title of underdog on Neck of the Woods, as all they have to offer is a two song demo – but don’t let this amateur feat make you look the other way. This band has some serious knockout power – their absolutely heart-crushing riffs and drum passages combined with unholy growls are going to give you one serious ear beating.

88 Mile Trip is an energetic stoner (yes, I actually just used those words together) band that exudes hypnotizing desert rock jams with very passionate sounding vocals. The band plays around with some wildly entertaining bass solos in a few songs and some distorted backing vocals that you’d never expect from the genre.

Female fronted power vocals reinforced with two dudes belting out sharpened death growls? Yes please. Unleash the Archers play a rare experimental genre that is far beyond eye-catching. The wicked professionalism stuffed into every riff makes you want to never stop listening to the perfectly produced eclectic sound.

Bandcamp: http://xulmetal.bandcamp.com/
Reverbnation: http://www.reverbnation.com/xul
Okanagan metal monsters XUL look to shatter the minds of the judges and fans alike with their blatantly Behemoth inspired blackened death metal sound. The band may play in similar fashion to the Norwegian overlords, but tend to use severely harsh guttural growls, eclipsing the vocal style of their inspiration in the most unholy of ways.
The winner of round four will face off against Omnisight, Witch of the Waste and Over the Coals in the semi-finals on May 3rd at the legendary thrash house that is the Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver, BC. The victor then moves onto the finals taking place at the Opera House in Toronto, Ontario, competing for the sacred prize of playing onstage at prestigious Wacken 2014 in Germany! Best of luck to all the contestants!
