Celestial Ruin’s will be looking to seal the deal on Wednesday night with their traditional key-heavy dark rock sound. Carlo Sepe’s lulling yet crushing guitar work backed up by Mike Dagenais’ monstrous bass blasts form the perfect culmination of heart-stopping riffs. Band visionary Adam Todd carries the flow brilliantly with his wondrous drumming talent while Nathan slams away on the often prominent keys. Larissa Dawn’s classical vocal style is bound to draw in a variety of fans; those ranging from Nightwish all the way to Evanescence. The haunting and beautiful near-symphonic metal runs strong with this one.
THE HALLOWED CATHARSIS

Bandcamp: thehallowedcatharsis.bandcamp.com/
Upbeat and maddening death thrash melodies run rampant in The Hallowed Catharsis. Kyle Bains and Vincent Yu join forces to brew the ultra-deadly riffs as Alex Forseille pounds away with otherworldly bass licks and Kevin Emms dominates the drums. Sean Ip’s vocals are about as brutal as can be. The band uses a lot of tempo changes; chaotic straight-out-of-hell death metal sections when vocals are present then flawlessly swapping to a jazzy progressive guitar solo showdown.
WITCH OF THE WASTE

Bandcamp: witchofthewaste.bandcamp.com/
Guaranteed to pull at your heart-strings are the catastrophic force known as Witch of the Waste. The group’s ultra-energetic melodies leaving you with no resort but to thrash till your neck snaps. Ryan Fitzgerald dumps all emotions into his damned unholy screams with support of Peter Sacco and Phil Jones; each of the latter pumping out hellish guitar wonders at the same time. Michael Holme’s devilishly steady bass work ties together fluently alongside Jeremy Gilmartin’s unrelenting drum destruction.
THE FIFTH CIRCLE
Facebook: www.facebook.com/TheFifthCircle
Bandcamp: hefifthcircle.bandcamp.com/album/warpath-ep
The Fifth Circle form from an eclectic mix of musical inspirations, with too many to name, each band member brings something different to the table. Jordan Kinicki’s haunting variety of vocals paints a cryptic picture over the spooky unwinding melodies played by fellow bandmates. Each track leaves you with the feeling of inevitable delight amongst the dour memories they leave you with.
The winner tonight will face off against Omnisight and two other uncrowned west coast bands in the semi-finals on May 3rd at the legendary thrash house that is the Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver, BC. The victor then moves onto the finals taking place at the Opera House in Toronto, Ontario, competing for the sacred prize of playing onstage at prestigious Wacken 2014 in Germany!
Best of luck to all the contestants!
