KITE 'N ROLL single review Published: July 13, 2015
RAIN
Talk about old-school hard rock, and we meditate on the likes of AC/DC, Ozzy, Motorhead, Judas Priest e.t.c. Rain, with the single "Kite 'n Roll" have inexpertly managed to brush over the spikes of the musical blueprints the old guards of hard rock created
Nothing is authentic. The guitar riff is probably been heard a million times, the same old blues-based riffing and the vocals appear to be a cheap rip-off of Motorhead's Lemmy's approach to singing. It sounds like a mediocre Motorhead track.
In my previous reviews, I had written about the absence of blues influence in today's hard rock albums, but this is not what I had in mind. Surely, they seem to be old-school hard rock, but nothing inventive seems to be present.
If "Kite 'n Roll" is the projection of what is about to materialize in the album, then I'd rather listen to the old guards of the genre.
