THE MALEFICE ALBUM REVIEW PUBLISHED NOVEMBER 22, 2013
PENTAGRAM (CHILE)
For a band that has been around for almost 30 years, Pentagram Chile has very few studio recorded songs. The Malefice is the first full studio album the band has ever released. The bands influences range from Kreator, Slayer to Celtic Frost.
What I first appreciated about this band is that I can understand the vocals. Their songs are a relentless assault upon not only my ears, but my mind as well. Their lyrics are built of beautiful gruesome images of death, the occult and Satanism. Stories of a woman consumed by the fires of spontaneous combustion, ghosts from a tormented past, cold-blooded demons, parallel universes and humankind's tragic futility of existence...these are things Pentagram Chile write about and perform.
Pentagram Chile has long been a staple of underground Chilean Metal and are well known to many other bands worldwide. Bands such as Avulsed, Torturer, Pentacle and Napalm Death have recorded covers of Pentagram Chile's songs.
As always, when offered the opportunity to review a Metal band from South America, I jump at the opportunity. So far I've rarely been disappointed and Pentagram Chile is far from disappointing to a fan of Thrash/Death Metal like myself.
