THE METAL DEN's Tribute To DIMEBAG DARRELL 2012
Vinnie Paul Abbott has gone on the record recently to say he is sitting on an album's worth of unfinished studio songs featuring both he and his late brother, legendary axe shredder Dimebag Darrell Abbott. As the story goes, these 'guitar/drum tracks' were meant for the second Damageplan album but obviously since Dime's tragic onstage murder on December 8, 2004 things have greatly changed.
Vinnie mentioned in a recent interview that he wants to put out this last collection of songs as a tribute album to Dime with guest vocalists.
Randy "Rocket" Cody of acclaimed metal news site TheMetalDen.com thinks former PANTERA members Rex Brown and Philip H. Anselmo should instead be the ones to contribute to the album on bass and vocals so it can be completed and presented to the world as the final record by one of the most important metal bands of all time.
It is well known that many of the songs off the first Damageplan album were nothing more than songs meant for Pantera but were rejected by vocalist Anselmo before the group's ultimate bitter breakup.
Why not pay proper homage to such a great human being and musician like Darrell Abbott by doing what he wanted to do more than anything else in life - to deliver new Pantera music to the loyal worldwide fans of CFH?
You know, the people that helped make them famous in the first place!!
Sure... Vinnie Paul says he doesn't want to ever work with Rex and Philip again due to hard feelings, but how would he react if the shoe was on the other foot and his all-time favorite band went up in flames and he as that diehard fan saw another chance to effectively put them back together one more time?
Would he do it? Or would he turn his back?
Now... let's all cut the drama and pull together as one! Are we a HEAVY METAL community or not?
This cause is about nothing more than to help deliver Dimebag's final wish in life. YOU can be part of something very special by joining this cause and spreading the word to all your friends! Getcha' Pull!!!
