Through the middle of the new wave of thrash metal, Slovenian thrashers "Panikk" came up with their debut album "Unbearable Conditions" to occupy a good position in this wave by their old school influenced fast riffs, and their interesting lyrics that talking about violence. Actually one of the things that made me review this album is the band's birthplace, they hail from Slovania and this thing surprised me because this country is not as familiar with this genre.
Thrash metal albums, especially these days, cannot survive on past band influences alone. Bands need to create and add their own special sounds and talents to todays recordings to become recognized and successful.
The fast riffs of "Unbearable Conditions" make it worth the time to replay this tune a few times. It gives the required power to chaos and headbanging for the listener. It has classic thrash riffs mixed with the guitarist's unique Slovenian taste, covered by great drumming work with good timing and great fillers in the breaks. I can say the drummer has done his job perfectly in this album.
Using the old school theme in the vocals is a good point for the band. The vocalist uses old thrasher style in singing such as "Sean Killian – Vio-Lence" to keep you in a thrashing mode. His screams push you to the mosh pit, and this is what I was waiting for from these new thrashers.
To change up the atmosphere, Panikk added two instrumentals into this album. Truly, they surprised me because it’s rare to hear a good instrumental piece from a new thrash metal band, I am really impressed.
This album is really what every thrasher should be looking for. The fast riffs and the mixture of their own taste and the old school theme added a unique sound to the album. If you are looking for good thrash be sure to check this album out from Panikk. Believe me, you won't regret it.
