AND NOW WELCOME...PAIN ALBUM REVIEW PUBLISHED: November 12, 2013
MY ENEMYZ BLOOD
Right from the first song, "And Now Welcome...Pain", it is crystal clear that My Enemyz Blood has a definitive metal sound, and their musical influences, (Lamb Of God, Testament, Pantera), shine through on their tracks.
The tune "Sick" is by far my fave tune due to the lyrical outburst and content from Ritchie: SICK, YOU MAKE ME SICK! Words that cross my lips on a daily basis when viewing acts of pure terror, and horrendous abuses. The guitar styling of Kevin hooks you right in the inner region of the brain. Fucking SICK for sure!
When blasting "Eternal Hell" I am convinced that I am in a deep, dark cavern where shadows are skulking around me. Growling from Ritchie gives me goose bumps from the fear of being stuck in a void.
The next tune "Face Your Fears" give us a monotone start. That quickly changes over to full throttle guitar rhythms and drum blasts mixed with in your face lyrics about facing your fear. Me, face my fears? Hell yeah! Once again Ritchie gives us raw, and edgy growls, and delivers low tones to make your bowels tingle.
This song,"Oblivious", gives more of the previous songs with one exception. The speed of the song is like doing 200 mph down a 60 mph road. Guitars and drums rip it up, with no end in sight.
And "Redacted" starts with a rip-roaring scream. The rhythm and groove beat gives that Southern U.S. sound reminiscent of Pantera. This song has a political unrest message.
"Ultimate Revenge" starts with a lighter, tighter feel from the previous tune. Another faster paced tune, packed with high hats, double drum blasts, and the always rapid-fire guitar notes with the sharpest hooks anywhere.
"When I Leave Here" begins with a spacey sound. The hard hitting drum beat is slowed down, but keeps the rhythm busy. STAY AWAY, JUST GO AWAY! Well, guess I will go when I am good and ready....is what I think when I hear this. You guessed it, this tune deals with death. But we do not have the choice to leave, so when it's not time we could here those words: STAY AWAY, JUST GO AWAY, IT'S NOT YOUR DAY!
"Flowz Like Blood" has a progressive sound. Drums, and guitars change it up, and throw sound from one corner to another as it hammers from the sound system. The more erratic rhythms are not flowing, like blood, but perhaps pumps and drips like when you squeeze an open wound.
My impression of My Enemyz Blood is very favourable. I love the strong metal machination of this band. This is now my go-to band when I want to listen to some of my fave bands, like Pantera, or Lamb Of God, but don't know which to put on first. My Enemyz Blood gives me the best of both worlds, and fills my need for those good 'ole homeboy tunes!
