This interview was recorded at the legendary Paddock Tavern in downtown Toronto, on equipment that seems to harken back to the first grooved cylinder wrapped in tinfoil as used by Thomas Edison, an early fan of metal music. However, the erratic listening quality is primarily due the uncontrollable ambient bullshit and the slightly beer saturated XY mic configuration used on that particular day. If you can sift through the background noise of the wavering Tom Waits music, emergency vehicle sirens, streetcar rumblings, cackling yuppies, vacuous sports commentary on the large screen TV and the inebriated Shakespearean drama wafting in from the corner of Bathurst and Queen, then you might find this interview to be of great educational value and philosophical importance. That being unlikely, simply sit back and enjoy the company of one of Canada’s rising young metal bands as they regale us with tales of their recent East Coast tour and the evolution of their musical style. As Thomas Edison once proclaimed to his assistant “Mark my words, Mr. Hammer, those dudes will rock the lab one day!”, and then proceeded to invent the phonograph. |
