Tell us how Black, The Gathering was initiated? I held a Gallery with a local promoter last year, Black was created that year, I had Christophe Szpadjel and Peter Beste come out and hold a 9 day exhibit, it went pretty well, and we all had fun, so i felt like i needed it again. What is the attraction to Black Metal for you? Are in also in a band, I am a concert photographer though, and I feel I am part of every band some days. How did your photography interest begin? Is your art in demand? My photography started dec 9th 2013, my first real show was a villianizer show in Edmonton at The Pawn Shop, I shot 5000 photos they where horrible, I tagged Ravioli in the 5000 photos, I had no clue what my audience wanted, then I took a random shot of a fan from Edmonton at a Blackguard show, the photo was amazing, I loved it, as well so did other local photographers, example Dana Zuk and Kylee Thompson, so I kept going with the encouragement from the local photographers. |
Any Black II announcements / highlights to share with the fans?
Christophe will be doing a Black metal art performance piece to start the night; be there ASAP to enjoy his performance and the Documentary about him.

What are your fave Canadian Black Metal bands?
Ides Of Winter, Blashphemy, finite, Resurgence, and so many more.
Do you anticipate this years event to sell out? Would it be fair to say this is a vegan black metal event? Will future Black, The Gathering events be vegan?
I don't anticipate a full sell out for tickets, I am looking towards about half capacity, the Chef has a great fan base from around the world.
This event is About Black metal, and that will be the focus always, creative people like the chef are influential, is this his show, no.
This show has him as a headliner yes.
Each year i will create a new name for Black this year the Gathering because it's the first show where I have a band, and food, next year The Dark Sea's will be the name... Black 3, The dark Sea's may not even be held in Canada.

Come out, enjoy the show, respect the art, and have fun. I know its hard to have fun when its black metal.
Black is the name of the gallery, The gathering is the installment, and each year the names installment will change.
