MMK- How do you view Canada's metal scene in 2015? Is the scene becoming stronger?
I believe that we are in a time where everybody is in a band! In Montreal there are so many bands which are touring the world right now it is simply amazing, to name a few we have Beyond Creation, Erimha, Blackguard, The Agonist, Obey the Brave, Kataklysm, Beneath the Massacre, Voivod, Gorguts, Despised Icon, Ion Dissonance and so many more.
We are lucky with the Internet that people from the states and the rest of the world have an easier time getting their hands on some Canadian content.
MMK – Any immediate plans for the band to play at any festivals or shows this summer?
This summer we will be in Europe and we have the chance to play Gothoom Fest, Wacken, Brutal Assault and Iperfest. We are really excited to be back in Europe with some new material!
MMK – The Book of Suffering Indiegogo campaign has created some attention for the band. What do you want to say to the fans to help raise these funds you are seeking for the EP?
Since we released our previous album independently we have been thinking about the crowd fund route. The idea is that this EP will be a cross collaboration between our fans and us. This will be the fans EP as much as it ours. | |
MMK – Would the band ever consider producing tunes outside of the current technical death metal sub-genre?
Cryptopsy will never repeat TUK, we will stick to our roots and keep innovating ourselves within that context.
That being said we all have projects outside the band. Flo is in a bunch of different types of bands such as a rap metal band called Digital Doomsday and a melodic band called Temple of Thieves. I have a rock band called The Era Of and I am currently working on a new melodic project with my friend Konrad Rossa (ex-Decapitated).
Oli has a really interesting new project that he will be releasing soon.
