Venue of show: The Opera House Presented by: Inertia Entertainment Published: Sept. 5, 2013 A smoggy midsummer evening set the stage for a rage fueled packed Opera House. The show ignited with an entire venue venting their pent up frustrations to the destructive shredding madness of American thrashers Havok. Simmering down for the keytar laden folk tunes of Quebec folk metallers Nordheim, bearing nostalgia and grief for eras of yore interspersed with merry drinking jigs. Next Trollband emerged with energetic riffs accompanied by sweet keyboard melodies blaring epic tales of battle, Scandinavian legends, and hymns to glorious mountains, and majestic forests. Finally the moment every house dweller was feasting their eyes upon – emerging with guttural troll vocals and catchy polka merrymaking. Finntroll’s unique brand of humppa interspersed with more serious elements of raw soul destroyed black, aggressive thrash and other intense metal soundscapes laid foundation for a bipolar nightly charade. Fans meandered between festive beer throttling jigs, to solemn candlelight hymns, and war rallying chaos in the mosh pits. |
