On Sunday August 30th, I am in sunny south Florida on the day before the arrival of the much anticipated and wildly over exaggerated Tropical Storm Erica. Well as history will show, Erica was a major disappointment, but the storm of Metal that ensued on that night definitely was one for the ages. As the night began we were treated to The Bloodline from Chicago. And boy did they set the pace. They started off with an amazing set of aggression and brutality, catching the eye of many within the audience.
As the night moved on it was time for a change of pace with The Bay area based Once Human. Haven’t heard of them? Well it is their first national tour, according to their singer, but do not let appearances fool you. This is a project put together by Metal All Star Logan Mader(Machine Head), and by far the band has an unique appeal. Besides the sick aggressive music styling and well placed musicianship of the band, Lauren Hart(Vocalist) commands the stage with overwhelming talent. As a whole, this set was very reminiscent of Arch Enemy, but with a different feel all together. Overall I was not disappointed by their performance and interaction with the fans. I expect to hear many great things to come from this band in the future.
