Crysis is a Metal band from Oxfordshire, England composed of members Kial Churcher (Vocals), Shaun Linstead (Lead Guitar), Jack Higgs (Rhythm Guitar), Kyle “Cake” Quinell (Bass), and Matt Pledge (Drums). The band pulls influences from bands such as Chimaira, Anthrax, The Faceless, and many more. Crysis released their EP, properly dubbed “Insane”, on 19 December, 2010 on Heads&Tails Records (UK) and Compass Records (AU). The EP is both amazing and free and offers a look into the twisted minds of these great musicians. No question the band put a lot of effort into this EP and each track shows it. To The Gallows starts us off with some amazing beats and the energy picks up as Churcher comes in on vox. The other songs carry this same energy and motion while remaining unique. I found it hard to sit through them, which is hopefully what the artists intended. With beats like that you have to move. From the artwork down to Hatred Redefined this album is dark and a good foreshadowing of things to come for Crysis.
The band is writing for their next CD, which may feature a more melodic side of the music although not to detract from any heavy influences that have played a major role in the band’s music to date. No release date is known at this time, although we can hope that 2012 will bring much more for this band. Currently you can check these guys out on several websites including their record label’s site www.headsandtailsrecords.co.uk as well as on facebook, myspace, and soundcloud.
