Church of Misery - Thy Kingdom Scum is an album that will send chills up and down your spine. With serial killer themes, intense lyrics, heavy bass, and some of the most evil vocals you will hear, Church of Misery live up to their name. This is an album full of hate and discontent but it is done so well it is pure enjoyment. It kept me going from start to finish.
“B.T.K (Dennis Rader)” is a great way to start Thy Kingdom Scum. It is dark and heavy and sets the mood for the rest of the album. Get ready for the brutality! “Düsseldorf Monster (Peter Kürten)” is the last Track on the album and is probably one of the best stoner/doom songs written in a long time; it is almost 13 minutes of pure brilliance. They do a cover of a Quartermass classic, “One Blind Mice” and turn it into a tune all their own, and performed flawlessly.
Every track is done to perfection and there is no weak spot on Thy Kingdom Scum. Guitar riffs are played to their full potential from beginning to end. Add some of the best production and you have what is going to be one of the best releases in 2013! It has a little bit of everything of what is wrong with the world but done in a beautiful way. Just when I think Church of Misery can’t impress me anymore, they do!
This is a must have album! Not one that I really feel I have to say too much about because it will speak for itself. Don’t think twice about it! Just go get it and let it take you into a whole new level of Misery. You will not be disappointed.
