Ladies and gentleman from Southern California I bring you “Awaken the Tide” true troopers of the Metalcore scene. And I have the pleasure to be reviewing their newest single “I Dream in Shadows”.

I will be the first to admit that listening to some of their earlier works they had a great sound but sounded too much like their influences to be considered unique. Although the version I have is a rough cut, I am particularly impressed with the production, clean well pronounced notes, great transitions, love the hook, and a great breakdown.

Emile Duncan and Judge have an outstanding vocal exchange, true brutality on Emile’s part with and Judge comes in beautifully to compliment on the clean vocals. The song is started quickly with a tight guitar riff as if to antagonize the audience. Building with heavy double bass drums, and flowing into smooth transitions from riff to riff. Phenomenal job on building emotion throughout the song, one can definitely see where the band is honing in on their skills and creating a sound of their own.

I like the direction and can’t wait to hear some new tunes. It’s about time we hear some new metal on the scene, aggressive and in your face!
