Forming in 2013, Medicine Hat Metalcore band, For A Life Unburdened, has played all around Western Canada since their first tour back in 2014.
The band currently consists of guitarist Chandler Weinkauf, guitarist/vocalist Theron Johnson, and vocalist Connor Green. 2016 brought the release of their debut EP "Waiting For Us To Die" and also delivered numerous tour dates across Western Canada. The band has since parted ways with drummer Marshall Nygaard and longtime bassist Brandon Nielsen.
FALU have been on hiatus since March of 2017 to focus on new material and finalizing their new lineup. Before the departing of Marshall and Brandon, the band had recorded a new single and sent it off to producer/engineer Taylor Larson for mixing and mastering (Taylor has worked with bands such as Periphery, Veil of Maya, Asking Alexandria and many other talented bands and artists). The single was set to be released in late 2017 but in August the band was asked to produce a full-length album with Taylor and Spencer Sotelo (of Periphery).
FALU has recently returned from an unreal experience of working with Taylor and Spencer in Washington DC and can't wait to unleash their new album on the world!
Theron and Chandler have also recently been endorsed by HESU amps and are loving their sound with these premium products!
Their debut full-length album is set to be released in 2018 with numerous tours in support of the new album to follow!
Organ Harvester introduced Dan Ayers as a co vocalist, creating a unique sound that molded Sludgehammer into the band it is today.
By the time they recorded the follow up, 2016’s The Fallen Sun, they had recruited guitarist Tyler Williams, who also proved to be a great recording engineer. With two guitar players, two vocalists and a crushing rhythm section, The Fallen Sun sounded massive and propelled Sludgehammer to much higher ground. The album was recorded and mixed by guitarist Tyler Williams, which gave Sludgehammer ultimate control over the final product. Unfortunately, the band parted ways with vocalist Chris Szarota 6 months after The Fallen Sun was released and Josh Stephney was brought on board to complete the album cycle.
With the lineup finalized, Sludgehammer hit the road and laid waste to every stage they set foot on, showing their fans that they were now stronger than ever. After a few successful tours in support of The Fallen Sun, it was time to start writing the next record which will be the first to feature new vocalist Josh Stephney. The new material became less experimental than The Fallen Sun, focusing on writing the “sick riffs” and “heavy, versatile music” that their fans love, Sludgehammer are preparing to unleash a monstrous album in 2018.
Whether on the road or in the studio, Sludgehammer deliver the goods with astounding precision and the confidence of a world class band. Stay tuned!
Detherous was established in 2014 as first drummer Chase Hamilton and Damon MacDonald were in high-school. The two started jamming and decided to evolve the project into a full band. Dylan joined about 6 months later to take on the position of lead guitarist. From there, they developed their sound from standard Thrash Metal to a unique blend of Death and Thrash Metal. Once they started capturing a more polished sound, Tad was injected to fill the bass role in 2016. Nearing the end of 2016, once they had all turned 18, they were then finally able to take the stage and start playing live at local venues.
Detherous also have the great pleasure of being included in Calgary's first annual Decimate Metalfest (June 7-10, 208), and this Year's 10th year at Armstrong Metal Fest (July 13-14, 2018)!
Their inspirations range from early Thrash and Death metal such as Slayer, Exodus, Death, Asphyx, and many more.
Detherous hope to start recording an EP very soon and look forward to what the future holds for the band.

At Dawn's Edge came to be in the culturally diverse Greater Area of Toronto, with many of the founding members residing in Mississauga. They welcome the ambiguity in genre classification their listeners have bestowed on them. They uphold an ongoing development for new sounds and techniques that add a contemporary edge to various culturally specific sounds, melodies and instruments. Although rooted in the aggressive qualities of metal, they explore how, for example, flamenco, middle-eastern and electronic vibes can be incorporated into one cohesive piece of music.
